The present disclosure discloses an improved apparatus and method for assessing arterial compliance including, but not limited to, radial arterial compliance and peripheral arterial compliance. The proposed method uses a Fiber Bragg Grating Pulse Device (also interchangeably referred to as Fiber Bragg Grating pulse recorder (FBGPR) hereinafter) for recording radial arterial pulse pressure waveform (RAPPW) under, say a sphygmomanometer examination. The present disclosure also relates to assessment of arterial distention from captured waveform, which is one of the essential requirements for assessing arterial compliance.
