A system for treating a facetjoint of a patient including superior and inferiorresurfacing devices. The superior device includesa resurfacing body configured to conformto a shape of a superior facet articularface, and the inferior device includes a resurfacingbody configured to conform to a shapeof an inferior facet articular face. Each resurfacingbody exhibits sufficient flexibility totransition from a relatively flat state to an insertedstate in which the resurfacing body substantiallymatches any multi-planar concavitiesof the corresponding facet articular face in thepresence of compressive forces. With this construction,the system is capable of establishinga new sliding interface within the facet joint,and can be inserted on a minimally-invasivebasis. The resurfacing bodies can be formed ofPEEK, and can include teeth that engage thecorresponding facet articular face.
