An orthosis 4 comprises a first portion 32 which comprises a polymer reinforced with a plurality of first fibres, and a second portion 54 which is disposed around at least a section of a peripheral edge of the orthosis 4. The peripheral edge comprises a polymer reinforced with a plurality of second fibres, wherein the first portion 32 has a higher tensile strength and is harder than the second portion 54. The orthotic may be a lower leg orthosis. The second portion 54 may be trimmed (figure 6) to allow fitting to a patient.
