The present invention relates to a system for detecting and compensating vision defect and a method thereof comprising a display unit, an input unit, a processing unit, and an image capturing unit, wherein the processing unit responds to a user operating the input unit to activate a vision defect detection module so that the vision defect detection module sequentially shows by the display unit. A series of predetermined image templates in front of the eyes of the user to be identified and the user enters through the input unit the selection of at least one visual perception parameter according to the result of visual perception. Afterwards, the processing unit records the visual perception parameter and establishes a vision defect mode based on the visual perception parameter. After the establishment of the vision defect mode is completed, the processing unit activates the image capturing unit, controlling the image capturing unit to take real-time images. At this time, the processing unit uses at least one pre-established vision compensation/adjustment algorithm that makes adjustment of the real-time image on the basis of each visual perception parameter of the vision defect mode and generates a corrected image. The display unit then shows the corrected image in front of the user's eyes.
