Intrahepatic cholestatic diseases, such as primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis, and Alagille syndrome, may be treated by the administration of (R)-2-(4-((2-ethoxy-3-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy)propyl)thio)-2-methylphenoxy)acetic acid and its salts.
