The skid (140) moves relative to the chassis (110) during adjustment of the height-of-cut such that the skid is maintained at or above a minimum height position Hmin for the full height-of-cut adjustment range of the lawnmower. The minimum height position is a position in which the lowest edge (150) of the lower surface profile (149) of the skid (140) is at a predetermined height above the ground. Skid (140) is biased towards the minimum height position by torsion spring (148). The skid (140) can be urged upwards against this biasing force, by an object for example, up to a maximum distance Hmax above the ground.
