PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walker enabling even a dementia patient to safely exercise, and a braking device for a walker.SOLUTION: A walker 1 comprises: a frame 2 which forms a space where a walking person can stand and walk, and with which the walking person grasps an upper part thereof during walking and a part of a body of the walking person comes into contact and a plurality of casters 3, 3A provided at a lower end of the frame 2. When the body of the walking person leaves the walkable space in an opposite direction of an advance direction A of the walker 1, the caster 3A is braked. The frame 2 comprises caster frames 22-25 with which the casters are provided at the tips. Rod bodies 4 pass through the caster frames 22, 25. An inclined part 5 is provided at an upper end of the rod body 4, and a brake part in direct contact with a wheel of the caster 3A is provided at a lower end of the rod body 4. A bar 7 is provided with a pressing part 8 for pressing the inclined part 5 by the turning of the bar 7 to displace the rod body 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
