PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a growth base material which has no negative effect on the growth of plant and an ambient environment and is not necessary to be treated as industrial waste when scrapped, and to provide a greening method using the growth base material.SOLUTION: The growth base material contains a basic substance composed of a soft-burned magnesia of 0.2 to 1 wt.%, at least one or more types of pH regulators of 0 to 0.5 wt.% that reduce pH, and at least one or more types of additives of 0 to 0.8 wt.%.
