The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for skin lightening, reducing skin wrinkles, and controlling skin aging, or a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating skin wrinkles, skin hyperpigmentation, and skin aging, both of which comprise biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate (BDD) as an effective component. According to the present invention, biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate (BDD) has no toxicity； activates Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) known to be related to aging, cell cycle regulation, cell death, and metabolism； suppressing melanogenesis； and has inhibitory activity on a collagenase, MP-1, and thus may be beneficially used as an effective component of cosmetic compositions for reducing skin wrinkles, controlling aging, and skin lightening, or of pharmaceutical compositions for preventing and treating skin wrinkles, skin hyperpigmentation, and skin aging.본 발명은 BDD(biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate)를 유효성분으로 함유하는 피부 미백, 피부 주름 개선, 피부 노화 방지 화장료 조성물 또는 피부 주름, 피부 과색소 침착, 피부 노화 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로, 더욱 상세하게는 BBD(biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate)는 독성이 없으며, 노화, 세포 순환 조절, 세포사, 물질대사와 관련이 있다고 알려진 SIRT1(Sirtuin 1)을 활성화 시키고, 멜라닌 생성을 저해하며, 콜라겐 분해 효소인 MMP-1의 억제 활성을 가짐으로써, 이를 피부 주름 개선, 노화 방지 및 미백용 화장료 조성물 또는 피부 주름, 피부 과색소 침착, 피부 노화 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물의 유효성분으로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
