PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check if an SAR monitor of an MRI system operates normally before an imaging object.SOLUTION: A control operating unit 32 included in a system acquires a measured SAR value using an SAR monitor 27 without moving a sequencer 6 during specific scanning with a phantom placed in the system, and checks if an SAR-related cable is disconnected. Thereafter, with the phantom held placed, the measured SAR value derived from the specific scanning is acquired and compared with an SAR limit value in order to verify that the SAR monitor 27 has not failed. If the measured SAR value exceeds the SAR limit value, a message is displayed on a display unit. The SAR monitor 27 acquires the measured SAR value derived from the specific scanning with the SAR limit value intentionally made smaller, and thus verifies whether a cease feature operates normally when the limit value is exceeded.
