This skin cleanser composition comprises: an alkyl ether carboxylic acid represented by general formula (1) or a salt thereof, whereby the average number of carbon atoms in R1 is 10.8-12.8, the average value of n is 2.5-3.4, the content of components for which n=0 comprise 9.9-27 mass%, and the combined total content of components for which n=1 and components for which n=2 is less than 40 mass% and an alkyl sulfate or a polyoxyethylene alkyl sulfate represented by general formula (2). In general formula (1), R1 represents a C8-18 alkyl group, n represents a number from 0-20, and M represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, ammonium or organic ammonium.
