PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stroboscope using a rolling shutter in which proper stroboscopy is performed.SOLUTION: In an imaging device using a rolling shutter, first of all, even number lines are read and stored in a frame memory 40, and then odd number lines are read and stored in a frame memory 41. A strobe emission period is set in timing when the even number lines are always exposed properly. In a vertical direction complementary image generating circuit 42, the complementary image data of the odd number lines is generated from the image data of even number lines. As for the even number lines, the image data stored in the frame memory 40 is always used, and as for the odd number lines, the propriety of the exposure of the line is determined with a discrimination circuit 44. According to the propriety, the image data of the frame memory 41 or the complementary image data generated with the vertical direction complementary image generation circuit 42 are used to generate an image of 1 frame.
