PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaning device which can reliably and always stably fulfill a function of purifying air itself, and to provide an operation control method therefor.SOLUTION: The air cleaning device includes, within a case body 1A, an electrolysis unit 2 which has an electrode for electrolyzing tap water into electrolyzed water, a tray unit 3 which stores the electrolyzed water, a filter unit 4 which holds the electrolyzed water to cause air-liquid contact, a blast fan unit which sends air that has passed through filters 4A, 4B, 4C of the filter unit 4 to the outside of the case body 1A, a pipeline unit 5 which is provided with the electrolysis unit 2 in the middle thereof and disposed so as to take in the electrolyzed water from the tray unit 3 and pour the electrolyzed water onto the filters 4A, 4B, 4C, a pump 8 which takes the electrolyzed water stored in the tray unit 3 into the base end of the pipeline, a residual chlorine concentration sensor 6 which is installed in the pipeline through which the electrolyzed water flows, and outputs a signal corresponding to the concentration of residual chlorine in the electrolyzed water, and a control unit 7 which holds the concentration substantially constant when detecting a reduction in the residual chlorine concentration.【課題】空気自体の浄化機能を確実にかつ常時安定的に発揮させることができる空気清浄装置及びその運転制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】ケース本体1Aの内部に、水道水を電解して電解水とする電極を有する電解部2と、電解水を貯留するトレイ部3と、電解水を保水し気液接触させるフィルタ部4と、フィルタ部4のフィルタ4A,4B,4Cを通過した空気をケース本体1A外部へ送出させる送風用のファン部と、管路途中に電解部2を設けるとともに、トレイ部3から取り込んでフィルタ4A,4B,4Cに電解水をかけ流すように配設された配管部5と、トレイ部3に貯留する電解液を配管基端へ取り込むポンプ8と、電解水が流れる配管内に設置し、電解水中の残留塩素濃度の濃度に応じた信号を出力する残留塩素濃度センサ6と、残留塩素濃度の低下を検出すると濃度をほぼ一定に保持する制御部7と、を備えた。【選択図】図1
