Pet foods include food substrates prepared by processes involving extrusion, baking or other heat. The pet food comprises less than 10% by weight, preferably less than 5% by weight of hemp oil. Hemp oils have cannabinoids, including acidic cannabinoids. The acidic cannabinoids have a concentration of less than 100 ppm, preferably 10 to 40 ppm in the hemp oil. Acidic cannabinoids comprise cannabidiol acid (CBD-A) and cannabidiol (CBD) in a ratio of at least 1: 1, preferably at least 3: 1. To inhibit the oxidation of acidic cannabinoids containing (CBD-A), antioxidants are added to the hemp oil. The pet food includes a second oil blended with the hemp oil.
