A multiplexed fluorescence imaging system simultaneously operable in multiple fluorescence excitation/emission wavebands may include a white light provider, an excitation light provider that emits excitation light in a plurality of excitation wavebands, an image sensor, an optical assembly that reduces the image size of fluorescent light, spectrally separates the fluorescent light, and projects the separated fluorescent light onto different portions of the image sensor, and an image processor that electronically magnifies the fluorescent images.
