PURPOSE: A composition containing a Geranium thunbergii extract or a fraction thereof is provided to suppress aldose reductase activity without side effect or toxicity and to prevent or treat diabetes complication. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating diabetes complication contains 0.0001-99.9 wt% of a Geranium thunbergii extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using water or low alcohol of C1-C4. The fraction is a dichloromethane fraction, an ethyl acetate fraction, a butanol fraction, or a water fraction. The diabetes complication includes diabetic cataract, diabetic neuropathy, or diabetic vascular disorder.
