The present disclosure is directed towards methods of converting glycerol toan allylcompound, involving deoxydehydrating glycerol with formic acid and heat toform allyl alcohol；and esterifying the allyl alcohol with formic acid and heat to form allylformate. In someinstances, the heat is generated by a microwave. In further instances, themethods involvepolymerizing the allyl alcohol or allyl formate to form poly(allyl alcohol) orpoly(allyl formate).
