The invention relates to skin care. In particular to a method for preparing a plant extract having Propionibacterium acnes inhibitory activity and skin hydration capability, the method includes the steps of exposing plant material obtained from a Leucosidea sericea plant to a solvent to render an extraction solution and removing the plant material from the extraction solution thereby recovering an extract having Propionibacterium acnes inhibitory activity.
