A method for the preparation of an at least partly film-coated calcium-containing compound, wherein the calcium-containing compound is in the form of particles and/or crystals, the method comprising applying a coating composition comprisingi) one or more water-soluble substances selected from the group consisting of polyols and carbohydrates andii) one or more polymeric substances selected from the group consisting of povidones and copovidoneto the calcium-containing compound,and the water-soluble substance and the polymeric substance is dispersed or dissolved in a solvent.
