PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of surely acquiring the image of the part under consideration of a fundus compared to a conventional case.SOLUTION: The fundus observation apparatus 1 can form the near infrared moving image and color image (still image) of the fundus Ef. The fundus observation apparatus 1 specifies an image area in the near infrared moving image corresponding to the area under consideration in the color image when the near infrared moving image is formed. Further, the fundus observation apparatus 1 forms a tomographic image along the scanning line by scanning signal light LS on the basis of the specified image area. Also, the area under consideration means the image area corresponding to the part under consideration of the fundus Ef. By the fundus observation apparatus 1, since the area under consideration in the still image of relatively high image quality is determined, the image area in the moving image corresponding to the area under consideration is specified and the measurement part of the tomographic image is set, the image of the part under consideration of the fundus Ef is surely acquired compared to the conventional method of setting the measurement part by referring only to the moving image of relatively low image quality.COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
