PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a living thing inhabitation situation investigation method capable of investigating living things inhabiting a biotope, etc. inexpensively and efficiently.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 1 is installed in an investigation target area 2. A still picture is taken by the imaging apparatus 1 at predetermined time intervals, and a moving image of the same range is taken. When an appearance time of an investigation target living thing 3 is detected based on each still picture, the moving pictures taken before and after the appearance time are checked.
