Methods of treating drug-resistant retroviral infections, such as those caused by drug- resistant HIV-I, HIV-II, and HIV-III, are disclosed. The methods involve administering a compound that is an inhibitor of retroviral propagation. The inhibitors inhibits the ability of any portion of the HIV genome involved in reverse transcription to bind to or associate with a host cell tRNA, or the inhibitor disrupts the RNA/RNA complex formed between the viral genome and the human tRNA primer, or the binding or association of the host cell tRNA to a retroviral genome initiates, primes, or facilitates reverse transcription of the retroviral genome in the absence of the administered compound.La présente invention concerne des procédés de traitement dinfections rétrovirales pharmacorésistantes, telles que celles causées par VIH-I, VIH-II et VIH-III pharmacorésistants. Les procédés mettent en œuvre ladministration dun composé qui est un inhibiteur de propagation rétrovirale. Les inhibiteurs inhibent la capacité dune portion quelconque du génome du VIH impliquée dans la transcription inverse à se lier ou sassocier avec un ARNt de cellule hôte, ou bien linhibiteur rompt le complexe ARN/ARN formé entre le génome viral et lamorce dARNt humain, ou bien la liaison ou lassociation de lARNt de cellule hôte à un génome rétroviral initie, amorce ou facilite la transcription inverse du génome rétroviral en labsence du composé administré.
