High purity lithium and related products are provided. In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides a lithium metal product wherein the lithium metal is obtained using a selective lithium ion conductive layer. The selective lithium ion conductive layer includes an active metal ion conductive glass or glass ceramic which conducts only lithium ions. The lithium metal product of the present invention produced using the selective lithium ion conductive layer advantageously provides improved lithium purity compared to commercially available lithium metal.
