PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a noble metal carrying photocatalyst particle in which a noble metal nanoparticle is carried on a surface of an oxide particle showing photocatalytic activity.SOLUTION: A metal carrying photocatalyst particle 20 is produced by the steps of: preparing an aqueous solution 2 containing an oxide particle 22 showing photocatalytic activity; arranging a pair of electrodes 6A and 6B, at least one of which is made of noble metal, in the prepared aqueous solution 2; applying a voltage between the electrodes 6A and 6B so that the electrode 6A made of the noble metal becomes a cathode, to generate plasma 4 in the aqueous solution 2; and making a surface of the oxide particle 22 carry a nanoparticle 24 made of the noble metal released from the electrode 6A by the plasma 4.
