The present invention relates to a support apparatus for supporting a trocar while the trocar extends through a wall of a patient's body. It includes an inflatable collar and a sliding support collar commonly connected for engagement with the trocar after which it is fitted. The slip collar is released to slide along the trocar. the inflatable collar is inflated to a size determined by a manually operable pump in the sliding collar operated by tightening the clamping finger portions together to a lock so that the threaded portion expels the inflation fluid. the support member is formed to be received on an outer surface of the trocar and which may be longitudinally adjusted with respect to the sleeve portion of the trocar to be located at a position selected by a manually movable locking collar.
