PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for specifying a tissue fusion system in a test executed before the system is used in surgical operation and automatically executing the test as a part of the starting procedure of self test when turning on a power supply.SOLUTION: The energy source 26 of a thermal tissue operation system 10 executes self test by using the simulation heating element and jaw heating element of the tissue grasping jaws 14 and 16 of a handpiece 12. Even if the handpiece is not connected, power is fed to the simulation heating element to be verified. In the case that the handpiece is connected, power is respectively transmitted to two jaw heating elements to be verified. Voltage and an electric current are measured by a peak holding detector, so that the peak holding detector is tested in order to verify right operation.
