Theroom decontamination system may be a UV room decontamination system that usesUVradiation to perform a decontamination operation in the room. A controller maydeterminewhether safe conditions for decontamination exist and initiate adecontamination operation onthe basis of whether they exist. Determination of safe conditions fordecontamination may bebased on light actuation detection and/or sensor data, which may includepresence detectordata and door sensor data. Determination of safe conditions fordecontamination may includea determination of whether sensors are functioning properly. The controllermay alsodetermine whether decontamination operations are required on the basis of thehistoricalcondition data, for example on the basis of whether the room has been occupiedsince the lastdecontamination operation.
