A preparation for the transdermal delivery of a biologically active substance into the body of a patient comprises particles (4) of a formulation comprising the active substance. The particles (4) are irregular in size and shape and may be produced by a low cost manufacturing method such as grinding from a thin film. The particles (4) are angular, i.e. they have sharp edges and corners that allow them to penetrate the outer layer of the skin (2) when subjected to pressure from a roller (8) or an array of blunt-tipped microstructures (10,12,30). Sucrose may be used as an excipient with the active substance to form suitably rigid and angular particles (4).Linvention concerne une préparation pour administrer par voie transdermique une substance biologiquement active dans le corps dun patient, la préparation comprenant des particules (4) dont la formule contient la substance active. La taille et la forme des particules (4) sont irrégulières et les particules (4) peuvent être produites grâce à un procédé de fabrication peu coûteux, tel quun procédé de broyage dun film mince. Les particules (4) sont angulaires, cest-à-dire quelles possèdent des arêtes et des coins effilés leur permettant de pénétrer la couche externe de la peau (2) quand elles sont soumises à une pression provenant dun rouleau (8) ou dun réseau de microstructures à pointe émoussée (10, 12, 30). Du saccharose peut être utilisé comme excipient avec la substance active pour former des particules (4) suffisamment rigides et angulaires.
