Systems and methods aredisclosed to preview a scan includes placing athree dimensional (3D) scanner probe near anobject to be scanned； scanning a portion of theobject to generate a 3D model of the scannedportion of the object； and displaying the 3Dmodel of the portion as a live 3D preview of the3D model, wherein the live 3D preview providesfeedback on the probe's position and orientationrelative to the object.
