PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-propelled assist robot that is less likely to cause fear of collision to a care-receiver when it is approaching him/her.SOLUTION: A self-propelled assist robot 1 includes: a travel unit 2 deceleration sensors 80 L, 80R which can detect a care-receiver A without contacting him/her and a control unit 3 which instructs the travel unit 2 to decelerate based on a signal from the deceleration sensors 80 L, 80R. The deceleration sensors 80 L, 80R detect that the self-propelled assist robot 1 is approaching the care-receiver A.
