A combine harvester (10) having a crop processing mechanism (12) and an elevator assembly (18) is provided. The elevator assembly (18) conveys harvested crop to the crop processing mechanism (12). The elevator assembly (18) includes an elevator housing (20), an endless conveyor (24) mounted for rotation within the elevator housing (20) about a shaft (38, 40), and a sprocket stripper (26) mounted adjacent the shaft (38, 40). The sprocket stripper (26) includes a beveled or tapered edge.
