PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image diagnosis supporting system and a medical image diagnosis supporting method capable of extracting a muscle region at a high speed from multiple medical images of an abdomen.SOLUTION: A medical image diagnosis supporting system according to the present invention includes an image acquisition part to acquire multiple abdomen transparent images and multiple abdomen tomographic images, a muscle region extraction part to extract a muscle region from the abdomen tomographic image, a reference cross section selecting part to select a reference cross section from among the multiple abdomen tomographic images by using multiple abdomen transparent images, and an extraction range setting part to set an extraction range from other abdomen tomographic images than the reference cross section by using the muscle region extracted from the reference cross section by the muscle region extraction part and multiple vertebral body areas to be extracted from the abdomen transparent image.
