Herbicidal compositions comprising and methods of controlling desirable vegetation utilizing a compound of formula (I), 4-amino-3-chloro-6-(4-chloro-2-fluoro- 3-methoxyphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylic acid or an agriculturally acceptable ester, amide, or salt thereof and (b) fluroxypyr or an agriculturally acceptable ester, amide, or salt thereof. The compositions may also contain an agriculturally acceptable adjuvant or carrier. The compositions and methods may also be employed in combination with known herbicide safeners, including, but not limited to, cloquintocet (e.g., acid or mexyl). The species spectra of the pyridine carboxylic acid of formula (I) or ester, amide, or salt thereof and fluroxypyr or ester, amide, or salt thereof, i.e., the weed species which the respective compounds control, are broad and highly complementary. Examples of the vegetation controlled are: Melochia, Eleusine, Lolium, Panicum, Melochia parviflora L. (MEOPA), Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn. (ELEIN), Lotium mu Hiflorum Lam. (LOLMU), or Panicum dichotomiglorum (l.) Michx. (PANDI).
