PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water level detector of a high pressure steam sterilizer capable of stably detecting a water level no matter which of waterworks water, pure water and purified water is used as water for heating so as to perform further improved water level detection compared to the one capable of detection even when the water for heating is the pure water by providing two planar electrodes whose surfaces are covered with an electric insulating material and detecting the water level by capacitance between the electrodes.
SOLUTION: A water level detection part for the poured water for heating is provided inside a chamber, and the water level detection part is an electric field sensor system for measuring the water level of the water for heating and includes a detection electrode disposed at the bottom part inside the chamber, a detection circuit to which the detection electrode is connected, and a determination control part for determining the water level by the detection voltage of the detection circuit. The detection electrode is formed of a vertical side part and a disk-like horizontal side part on it, and an actual water level is detected at the horizontal side part.
