The present invention relates to an interventional device, such as a catheter or guidewire device having finely fabricated components that provide flexibility while maintaining good torque transfer. The interventional device includes an elongate member having a structure of perforations forming a plurality of axially extending beams that engage a plurality of circumferentially extending rings. The perforations are arranged such that the resulting beams form non-helical and non-linear patterns, distributed along the length of the elongate member.
