The bone plate (302) comprises a first surface (306) and a second surface (308) opposite to the first surface (306), a deformable contact region (320) comprising a contact surface (318), and a through hole (310) defining a through hole axis and an inner surface (316) of the bone plate (302) and extending from the first surface (306) through the bone plate (302) to the second surface (308). In one variant, the contact surface (318) is formed by at least part of the inner surface (316), wherein the deformable contact region (320) comprises a plurality of cavities (330) at least partially surrounding the through hole (310) and each extending in a height direction of the bone plate (302). In another variant, the deformable contact region comprises at least one cavity surrounding the through hole in a circumferential direction of the through hole. Also provided is a bone plate system comprising the bone plate and a fastening member being configured to cooperate with the deformable contact region of the bone plate.
