The invention relates to a milking device (1) for milking livestock whereby personnel connects milking means to teats of the livestock comprising:- a platform (3) for supporting the livestock- milking means (11), for milking the livestock and- lifting means (4), arranged for in use changing the position of the platform between a working position at a height relative to the position of the personnel suitable for the personnel to connect the milking means to the teats and at least one of a loading position in which the livestock can walk onto the platform and an unloading position in which the livestock can leave the platform.The invention further relates to a method of milking livestock.
