The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and health-aid food for preventing or treating/alleviating diabetes mellitus including, as an active ingredient, mixed extract of vegetable natural products having excellent effects of removing swelling, enhancing level of immunity and enhancing metabolism. Particularly, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and health-aid food for preventing or treating/alleviating diabetes mellitus through activity of inhibiting beta-amylase and alpha-glucosidase. The pharmaceutical composition and health-aid food comprise, as an active ingredient, hydrothermal extract of a mixture of vegetable natural products, including water parsley, burdock, pumpkin, plantain leaves, adzuki beans, black beans, jujube and ginger, or ethanol extract obtained additionally from the same. As demonstrated by the examples of the disclosure, the mixed extract of vegetable natural products, including water parsley, burdock, pumpkin, plantain leaves, adzuki beans, black beans, jujube and ginger, used as an active ingredient of the anti-diabetic composition has a significantly high total polyphenol content and total flavonoid content, while showing a significantly low total sugar and reduced sugar content, shows anti-diabetic activity through activity of inhibiting beta-amylase and alpha-glucosidase. In addition, the active ingredient causes no hemolytic activity to the human red blood cells, has excellent thermal stability, and causes no loss of activity of beta-amylase and alpha-glucosidase even under an acidic condition of pH 2 and in the blood plasma. Thus, the active ingredient can be prepared in various forms, such as extract, powder, pills and tablets, which can be administered at all times.
