PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact lever drag reel which is used by being attached to the upper side of a fishing rod and is suitable for positioning left fingers other than a thumb on the lower side of the fishing rod, placing a left palm on the left side surface of the reel, stretching the left thumb to the upper surface part of the reel and gripping the lever drag reel from the left side surface, and operating a drag lever with the left thumb stretched to the top surface of the reel and to improve the operability of the lever drag reel.SOLUTION: A lever drag reel includes a contact reduction part 80 that comes into contact with a location between a thumb and an index finger on the left palm side of an operator when being placed on the left side surface of the lever drag reel, which is an inclined surface formed by slicing the upper rear end part of the left side surface of the lever drag reel toward the spool side so as to make the sliced part gradually deep toward the outer peripheral edge of the left side surface. In the reel, the contact reduction part 80 is formed at an upper rear region surrounded by a straight line that is substantially parallel with an axial line of a fishing rod and intersects at right angles with an axial line of a spool, and a straight line intersecting at right angles with the above straight line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
