The passive mixer serves to enable mixing and agitation of materials for use during surgery. For example, the passive mixer includes a body portion defining an interior region, a mixing assembly provided within an interior region of the body portion, a crank assembly for driving the mixing assembly, and a valve assembly. The mixing assembly serves to mix and agitate the materials provided therein through the rotation of the plunger portion and the spring attached to the plunger portion and through the upward and downward movement of the plunger portion to the interior region. Rotation of the crank assembly rotates the plunger portion and the spring attached to the plunger portion and serves to cause upward and downward movement of the plunger portion.
