The present disclosure teaches precisely designed biodegradable drug delivery systems and methods of making and utilizing such systems. In an aspect, the biodegradable drug delivery system taught herein includes an intravitreal eye implant suitable for delivering a corticosteroid to the posterior segment of the human eye. The intravitreal eye implants described herein have a desired prolonged drug release profile suitable for treating inflammation in the human eye.
