The present invention refers to the use of drugs for reducing cholesterol and drugs for destroying the lipid rafts of cells in order to inhibit the infection caused by RNA virus of the Flavivirus genus, thus inhibiting the entrance and exit of virus, as well as the replication thereof, for instance for any serotype of the dengue virus (DENV), therefore reducing the risk of dengue fever, haemorrhagic dengue and even dengue shock, and particularly preventing the acute or severe hepatic damage caused by DENV infection directly in hepatocytes.La presente invención se refiere al uso de fármacos que disminuyen el colesterol y de fármacos que destruyen las balsas lipídicas de las células para inhibir la infección por virus de RNA del género Flavivirus, inhibiendo la entrada y la salida de los virus, así como su replicación, por ejemplo para cualquier serotipo del virus del dengue (DENV), disminuyendo así el riesgo de fiebre de dengue, dengue hemorrágico, incluso choque por dengue, y en particular para prevenir el daño hepático agudo ó severo ocasionado por infección por DENV directamente en los hepatocitos.
