A system for deploying a device to a distal location across a diseased vessel, comprising an expandable sheath defining a lumen (24) therethrough, the sheath having a collapsed configuration (16), wherein upon positioning the collapsed configuration (16) to the desired position relative to the distal location, the sheath is configured to be expanded to the expanded configuration (26), such expanded configuration having a diameter greater than said first inner lumen diameter, with incremental pushing of a device, longitudinally through the lumen (24)； and an embolic capture assembly (132) having a hoop structure (174) configured to self-expand and to support a tubular or frustoconical porous filter mesh (132) surface configured to capture particles that may enter it, such as clots or plaque particles, said distal portion (172) being configured to collapse and capture embolic matter contained in said embolic capture assembly.
