PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display information not displayed by a processor, when an electronic scope is connected.
SOLUTION: A character generating circuit 21 arranged in the connector 15 of the electronic scope 10A, generates a signal corresponding to graphic information constituted of a prescribed character string, etc., based on font data of a memory 22. The signal generated by the character generating circuit 21 is superimposed through an adder 19 on a video signal from an imaging element arranged at the distal end 13A of an insertion part 13 of the electronic scope 10, so as to be output to the processor 11. The processor 11 superimposes the graphic information on the video signal so as to output them to a monitor 12.
