An absorbent body production method comprising a crushing step of crushing the leading end of a pulp sheet (1) to form fibrous pulp which is a material for an absorbent body, a cutting step of cutting a preceding pulp sheet (1p) and a following pulp sheet (1f), and a joining step of joining the preceding pulp sheet (1p) and the following pulp sheet (1f) to provide a seamed pulp sheet, wherein the preceding pulp sheet (1p) and the following pulp sheet (1f) of the seamed pulp sheet are crushed in that order. This absorbent body production method is characterized by comprising: a cutting step that obliquely cuts the preceding pulp sheet (1p) and the following pulp sheet (1f) so as to form the same slope and so that the length (La) of the oblique cut line in the feeding direction is greater than the minimum distance (Lb) from a support position (20a) to the motion trajectory of the cutting edge of a crushing blade (31b); and a joining step that provides the seamed pulp sheet by joining the sheets in a state in which a rear end cut line (CLp) and a leading end cut line (CLf) abut.
