The surgical system includes a vitrectomy probe having a cutting portion including an internal cutting tube, an external cutting tube, and an external port. The internal cutting tube is movable relative to the external cutting tube that cuts the vitreous humor during the vitrectomy procedure. The surgical system includes a motor configured to move the inner cutting tube relative to the outer cutting tube, and a vitrectomy that measures pressure near the distal portion of the vitrectomy probe and provides pressure feedback One or more pressure sensors coupled to the probe.
