PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization method and a sterilizer capable of certainly and efficiently sterilizing the whole surface of an article to be sterilized without consuming much energy and a large amount of agents.SOLUTION: A sterilization method includes a preparation step for tightly accommodating a sterilizing gas containing a sterilizing component of a prescribed concentration and an article to be sterilized in the inner space of a sterilization vessel and a UV-rays irradiation step for irradiating the article accommodated in the sterilization vessel through a UV-rays permeation part with UV-rays emitted from a UV-rays source arranged outside the sterilization vessel.
