<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide isolation and identification of a new gene associated with elongation of fruit grain (including a seed, a glumous flower or a fruit) of a plant body and, consequently the grain length, and to provide a breeding method for increasing the fruit of the plant body by utilizing the gene. <;P>;SOLUTION: A success is made in the isolation and identification of the GL5 gene associated with the elongation of the fruit (including the seed, glumous flower or fruit) of the plant body and, consequently an increase in yield by a linkage analysis.
