In one aspect there is disclosed a ground cover sheet material that absorbs more solar radiation than it reflects in the UV range of about 280-400nm, and reflects more solar radiation than it either transmits or absorbs in the visible range of about 400-700 nm and near infrared range of about 700-800 nm, and transmits at least part of solar radiation in the range about 800- 2500 nm and at least part of solar radiation above about 2500 nm. In another aspect there is disclosed a ground cover sheet material comprising: at least one UV reflecting white main pigment, at least one inorganic white UV absorbing pigment, and at least one organic UV absorbing pigment, the UV absorbing pigments decreasing the reflectance in the UV range of about 30 280nm &ndash 400nm of the ground cover sheet material compared to that same material without the UV absorbing pigments due to increasing the UV absorbance of the material.
