PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-contact type ultrasonic tonometer, measuring the ocular tension of a subjects eye with good accuracy and facilitating alignment with the examined eye.
SOLUTION: This non-contact type ultrasonic tonometer includes an ultrasonic probe having a transmit-receive part for transmitting an ultrasonic beam to the cornea of the subjects eye in non-contact state and receiving the same, wherein the ocular tension of the subjects eye is measured based on the characteristic of a cornea reflection wave received by the probe. The tonometer includes an observation optical system for observing the anterior ocular segment of the subjects eye from the front. In the probe, between the transmit part and the receive part of the transmit-receive part, one member of them is disposed outside of an observation optical path of the observation optical system, and the other member is disposed in a position to transmit or receive using the optical path of the observation optical system.
